Privacy Policy

The short version
We use your photo to make your portrait. Our analytics and advertising partners learn what kind of pet it shows (a cat or a dog, how many, and a guess at the breed), never the photo itself. We delete the photo within 30 days of when you upload it. We never use it to train AI, and we don't use face recognition. We don't sell your information for money, but our ad pixel can count as "selling" or "sharing" under California law, and you can switch it off below.
What we collect
- Your pet photo, and the name you type, to create your artwork. When a photo arrives, we remove the hidden details a camera stores in it, such as where and when it was taken.
- Your email, when you buy, to send your download link and receipt, or when you ask us to email your preview, to send it. After that we may send you a reminder about your portrait the next day (and, if the box you used said "a few reminders", one last note a couple of days later), and nothing else, unless you tap "Keep me posted" in one of those emails: then we keep your email address after that too, to send our Christmas order dates and news now and then. If the box you used said we'd also send ideas and our Christmas dates, or ideas, sales and our Christmas dates, we email you about twice a week, our sales included, and keep your email address until you unsubscribe. These stop as soon as you buy or unsubscribe. If you leave the box on the checkout page ticked to hear from us (it starts ticked) and then don't finish, we may send you one email about your order the next day, and nothing more. When a print you bought should have arrived, we send you one email asking how it turned out. You can unsubscribe from any of those emails with the link at the foot of each one.
- Your shipping address, when you buy a print, so it can be delivered. We don't ask for your phone number.
- Your rating, if you rate your preview: the stars, any words you add, the style and what kind of pet it shows, and whether you later bought. We show your words on this site only if you tick the box for it, with the first name you type and the kind of pet. Every rating counts in the average we show.
- Payment details, handled entirely by Stripe. We never receive your card number.
- How you use the site: the pages you visit and the buttons you tap, your browser and device, and your internet (IP) address with the rough area it points to (your state). We use these to keep the site working, to show delivery dates for where you are, and to measure our advertising.
Who helps us
- OpenAI checks that your photo shows a cat or dog and creates the artwork from it. OpenAI may keep what we send for up to 30 days to check for abuse, and does not use it to train its models.
- Stripe processes payments.
- Cloudflare hosts the site and stores files.
- Resend sends our emails.
- Trustpilot receives a copy of the email that tells you your first print has shipped (your name, email address and what you ordered), so it can invite you once to review us. It is never sent if you unsubscribed from our emails.
- Printify and its print partners make and ship prints, using your name, shipping address and email.
- Meta (Facebook and Instagram) helps us measure and improve our ads, through its pixel on this site and its Conversions API. Meta receives your IP address and browser type, the cookies it sets here (_fbp and _fbc), a scrambled (hashed) visitor number, and the steps you take, such as uploading a photo (with what kind of pet it shows) or buying. It also receives a scrambled (hashed) copy of your email when you ask us to email your preview or when you buy, and when you buy, scrambled copies of your name, city, state, ZIP code and country. Meta never receives your photo, your street address or your phone number. Meta may use cookies and similar technology on this site to measure and target ads. You can opt out of interest-based ads at optout.aboutads.info and in your Facebook ad preferences, as well as with the button below.
- PostHog and Microsoft Clarity show us how the site is used: which buttons people press, what they choose, the pet names they type, what kind of pet a photo shows, where they get stuck, and recordings of what happens on the page. The recordings hide what you type into boxes such as your email, and PostHog and Clarity never receive your name or email. We do keep PostHog's visitor number with a preview you ask us to email and with an order, so we can count them in our analytics. We don't use any of this to identify you.
We partner with Microsoft Clarity and Microsoft Advertising to capture how you use and interact with our website through behavioral metrics, heatmaps, and session replay to improve and market our products/services. Website usage data is captured using first and third-party cookies and other tracking technologies to determine the popularity of products/services and online activity. Additionally, we use this information for site optimization, fraud/security purposes, and advertising. How long things are kept
- Your photo is deleted within 30 days of when you upload it. A copy made when you try another style is deleted on the same day as the original.
- Portraits, and the details that go with them such as the name you typed, are deleted within 30 days of when they are made. If you open checkout for one or buy it, we keep it for 30 days from then, so your download link keeps working.
- An email address you gave us only to receive your preview, or at a checkout you didn't finish, is deleted within 30 days, unless you tapped "Keep me posted" or the box you used said we'd send our Christmas dates: then we keep it until you unsubscribe.
- If you unsubscribe, we keep a scrambled (hashed) copy of your email address, with no end date, only so we never email you again.
- Ratings are kept with no end date, because the average we show is counted from all of them. Email us and we'll delete yours.
- Our record of an order (your email, and for prints your name and address) is deleted about 40 days after you order. Stripe and Printify keep their own records of payments and deliveries, and we keep sales records for as long as tax law requires (at least 4 years in California).
- Our partners keep what they receive for their own set times: OpenAI up to 30 days, Microsoft Clarity recordings 30 days, PostHog recordings 30 days and other usage data 1 year, Resend's email logs 30 days, and Cloudflare's site logs up to 7 days. Meta keeps what it receives under its own privacy policy.
Your choices and rights
You can ask us to see, correct or delete your information by emailing us. California residents have rights under the CCPA and CPRA, including to know, to delete, and to opt out of the sale or sharing of personal information for advertising.
Do not sell or share my personal information. Our advertising pixel can count as selling or sharing under California law, so you can switch it off, along with our site analytics, for this browser here:
If your browser sends a Global Privacy Control signal, we treat that as an opt-out automatically and you do not need to press anything. We don't respond to the older Do Not Track setting. Global Privacy Control and the button above are the ways to switch tracking off here.
Meta and Microsoft may collect information about your activity on this site and on other sites over time.
Children and people in photos
The service is not intended for children under 13, and we do not accept photos of people. We don't use face recognition. If a person appears in a pet photo, that photo is handled and deleted the same way as any other.
Changes to this policy
If we change this policy in a way that matters, we'll update the date at the top of this page and, if we have your email for an order that isn't finished yet, we'll tell you by email.
